Welcome to “The Man Cave”

Where women are not only welcome, they are strongly encouraged! (They just don’t have any decorating authority!)

The 4th Annual Chestnut Bend Pig Roast was another success!
Here is “Fred”, the guest of honor from the 4th Annual July 4th Pig Roast. The Man Cave Group did all the heavy lifting in cooking the guest of honor. We had a LOT of help from the women in rounding out the food selection BUT we take the day long responsibility of smoking the pig very seriously. It takes a lot of work to cook a pig of this size to feed 150 people. This year we made a video record of the planning, procurement and actual cooking of the pig for those who would like to do this themselves.
Here is a link to the video of the 2008 roasting of Fred IV. I used a lot of music to duck out most of the conversations so it wouldn’t be like some home movie. I hope you enjoy.http://gallery.me.com/tgrepass#100030http://gallery.me.com/tgrepass#100030http://gallery.me.com/tgrepass#100030http://gallery.me.com/tgrepass#100030http://gallery.me.com/tgrepass#100030shapeimage_2_link_0shapeimage_2_link_1shapeimage_2_link_2shapeimage_2_link_3shapeimage_2_link_4

2008 “PIT CREW” FOR FRED THE 4TH

The short message below is one sent by a friend a long time ago. I have held on to this so I could share it with you.

This has a great message for fathers in it. I hope you enjoy it too.

Are you a member of the 101st Airborne?

Thanks for checking out the Man Cave! We have put together several donation shipments of DVD’s, CD’s and even Silly String.  I have built a page for you to post comments and leave pictures. We would appreciate any feedback from you. The most recent drive was with the Franklin High School football program. We sponsored their defensive sacks and held a fundraiser for the 101st. There are so many people that care dearly for each and every one of you. I receive many contributions for posting here in a section we call “Real Heros”. I got this name from one of my Godfathers, Vic Silvestri. We are just showing you a little bit of love.

What is The Man Cave?

Mine is in the garage. It is a basement garage so I have extra space to work with. It started off as just a place to hang out with neighbors but has moved way beyond that. It was featured on the front page of the Nashville Tennessean in January of 2007 and filmed by HGTV in February of 2007. You can clink on this article to link to these stories. You can also sign up to be a “Wise Guy” in the Man Cave. This will be explained there too. Thanks for visiting and I hope to add you to my update list so you will know when any events or fundraisers are coming up that you would like to participate in. If you have a Man Cave you would like featured there is an area to submit it too. As my buddy Mike Yost in Arizona says...”Cave On”!  CLICK HERE TO READ THE “PAUL HARVEY” ON THE MAN CAVE STORY.

The Man Cave Group loves to give.

Charity is what has powered the Man Cave to such popularity. It is an aspect that came about by accident. We have now built up a nice variety and tradition of fundraisers. We have an annual golf tournament for Williamson County Special Olympics and Saddle-Up, and equestrian farm for mentally and physically disadvantaged kids. We also sponsor the Franklin High School Football team through their Quarterback Club and the Franklin H.S. Cheerleading squad.

Follow the links below each picture to reach a slideshow and background stories on past fundraisers. We may even have an upcoming one profiled that you may want to participate in! TAKE THIS LINK TO SEE PAST CHARITY DRIVES.

HD MEN VISIT THE MAN CAVE!

Alan Pace who is the Minister of Adults with The Peoples Church had an idea of how the Man Cave could fit into this new High Def Men program they were launching. He wasn't aware that I actually attended this same church. He mentioned seeing the article on the Man Cave to someone who happened to be a mutual friend. She said the Man Cave guy goes to our church! He reached out and I told him I would be willing and honored to have the Man Cave used to help launch this new men's program. The short version is they are giving men a way to connect outside of church. Most men tend to have a decreasing number of friends outside of co-workers and family as the years go on. The Man Cave opened up the number of friends I have made in the past few years tremendously. FOLLOW THIS LINK to read more about HD Men and take a link to their website. Thanks Alan and the great guys in this Mens group.

MAN CAVE CONTRIBUTIONS

The pictures and other items that have been donated to the Man Cave have added another unique layer to the Man Cave. It started as a joke to help me add more coverage to the walls and it grew from there. You will see many unique pictures, autographed items and the most desired ones...the “To The Man Cave” autographed submissions! They are all random submissions and there is an interesting variety. I include the background story on the submissions that I can remember. These started in late 2004 building up to the first “To The Man Cave” submission by the original Godfather, Rocco Panaia from an old buddy of his, Greg Olson, who was the American League Rookie of the year in 1987. It started off all the Godfather submissions. CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE MAN CAVE CONTRIBUTION SLIDESHOW!

A special thanks to ALL of you that make the Man Cave a special place to visit. The Mayor...Tim Repass

DVD/CD SHIPMENT TO IRAQ/AFGHANISTAN. My brother Tom (on left), myself and Godfather Rocco Panaia pull together the donations from the Franklin High School games and other individual contributions. We sent a total of 9 boxes with nearly 700 items. Thanks to all that contributed. It is a small gesture for a great sacrifice made by the men and women of the 101st and all the other military branches. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We hope you will be return to your family and friends soon.

NEW MANCAVE ADDED TO THE COLLECTION!

Robert Butterfield of Sierra Vista Arizona has a  great Earnhardt Room. Robert is presently in Dubai but will be home soon! Take this link to see the other pictures he shared. I sent him a “Godfather” picture of the 1924 Reds and made him a Godfather in my Man Cave. I am going to have to visit AZ soon, I have several buddies over there that will give me a beer and some neat places to hang out. Thanks Robert!
